Nissan company is introducing a new Smartwatch. This watch – more formally known as the Nissan Nismo watch – aims to help drivers of their Nissan Nismo cars to communicate with the vehicle they are driving. This is no easy feat considering the Nismo car division is responsible for creating fast cars such as cars used for motorsports and even supercars. Thus, the Nissan Nismo watch has to perform under even demanding conditions, just like the Nissan Nismo cars.
The Nissan Smartwatch can do several functions to assist the Nismo driver. First, it can accept car messages from the Nissan manufacturer that are customized for the Nismo vehicle itself. The average fuel consumption plus speed of each Nismo vehicle can be assessed to check for efficiency through the watch. Your Nissan Smartwatch can double as a cardiac monitor that will test your biometric readings such as your heart rate as you drive. The performance readings and telematics of your Nismo vehicle can be monitored even as you speed down the track. All this is possible because the Nissan Smartwatch relies on a smartphone app to serve as a Bluetooth Smart gadget so that you are in constant communication with your Nismo.
If you are the type who cannot be away from social networking for very long, your Smartwatch will also track your activities on media such as Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter so that you are regularly appraised of how your posts are being received by your followers. This is possible because the Nissan Nismo watch also contains Social Speed software. This makes it ideal for people who like to drive fast and live fast (offline and online).
The Nissan Smartwatch is actually founded on an earlier innovation called the Nissan Nismo Lab. The Nissan Nismo Lab technology (as adapted for the Smartwatch) should help monitor the health and performance of Nissan Nismo drivers continuously. It is hoped that this unique technology will have more advanced applications later on, including adapting sensors to gauge skin temperature, EEG and ECG data. Drivers are considered athletes too and driving fast cars can be deemed a very demanding sport in itself – hence there is a need to check on how drivers are faring while driving the Nissan vehicles.
The greatest benefit of wearing the Smartwatch as you drive is that your racing team will be able to know if a driver is in trouble health-wise during a race. The data is important so that accidents and health problems such as a heart attack can be prevented. However the technology seems to be devoted to a small niche market of Nissan Nismo drivers so you probably won’t see the watch in your neighborhood mall any time soon. Still, this technology could be amended later on for more mass market applications eventually.
